Years ago, I met a woman, Helen Bond, who helps to give families and communities in Guinea bio-sand water filtration systems thru The Benkadi Project. From my understanding, the systems provide for the family for about a decade. Her non- profit works to empower communities to take actions they feel are important for themselves rather than assuming the community needs direction and guidance.
I got to spend a bit of time with Helen and witness her beautiful fundraising efforts many years ago. I loved how she used creativity to bring awareness, support drummers from the villages she works withâŠ. And build cultural bridges.
When I asked my heart where I wished to send my support, this rang out loud and clear for me.
